Who’s behind Better Matchmaking?

We’re led by Rachael Ogilvie, a seasoned matchmaker with over 7 years of experience and hundreds of curated introductions across the U.S. Before founding Better Matchmaking, Rachael worked for one of the largest matchmaking firms in the country, where she personally guided high-level clients and led a team of matchmakers — mentoring and training others in the art of intuitive, emotionally intelligent matchmaking.

She created Better Matchmaking to offer something more personal, strategic, and human — and still oversees every match herself.

What kind of clients do you work with?

We work with people who are ready to take dating seriously — not by playing a part, but by showing up with clarity, curiosity, and a real desire to connect. Some are newly returning to dating. Others are seasoned but stuck. What they share is a desire to do things differently — with more intention, less noise, and a matchmaker they can trust to lead the way.

Do you work with men, women, or both?

Both. We work privately with clients across the gender spectrum and curate matches based on shared values, emotional availability, and genuine compatibility… not just boxes checked.

What if I’m not in Charlotte?

That’s no problem! We work with clients across the U.S. Whether you're open to long-distance or prefer to meet locally, we’ll build a strategy that fits your goals, preferences, and location. While our home base is Charlotte, we regularly match clients in cities like New York, LA, DC and beyond.

Is this like the apps?

Ab-so-lute-ly not. There’s no swiping, no ghosting, and no guesswork. This is a curated, concierge-style experience grounded in trust, clarity, and real human connection.

How many matches will I get?

Every client receives a personalized plan, with match cadence and timeline tailored to your lifestyle, preferences, and pace. Some move faster, some more slowly — we’ll figure out what feels right.

What if it doesn’t work out with a match?

That’s part of the process. It is very normal and very okay. After each introduction, we debrief (kindly, honestly and constructively). The feedback loop is a key part of refining your search and deepening alignment.
